Are you an experienced Trade Assistant looking to join a leading company in the electrical manufacturing industry? Based in our Edinburgh modern manufacturing facility, Mayfield is seeking motivated and reliable Trades Assistants to support our switchboard assembly team for a 6-month fixed duration. These roles will assist qualified electricians and other trades people in the mechanical assembly of switchboards for the industrial sector. The ideal candidates will have hands-on experience, good attention to detail, and a strong commitment to workplace safety.

What you’ll be doing

• Assisting in the mechanical assembly of electrical switchboards and control panels with direct supervision from qualified personnel
• Supporting tradespeople with layout and component installation
• Reading and interpreting assembly drawings
• Using hand and power tools safely and efficiently
• Performing other general labouring and workshop duties as required
• Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised work environment
• Following all workplace health and safety guidelines

Skills and experience

• Previous experience in an electrical manufacturing environment (preferred but not essential)
• Basic understanding of general mechanical assembly
• Ability to use tools such as battery-operated drills, impact drills, grinders, and pop rivet guns etc.
• Physically fit and capable of manual work
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Willingness to learn and follow instructions
• Confident with problem solving and a can-do attitude
